Meet The Artist

Map Abday is a Phuket-based abstract artist whose work explores the deep connection between color, texture and human emotion. Born in Southern Thailand, she has always experienced the world through color—fiery reds and purples in moments of intensity, calm blues and soft tones in times of joy. This emotional language of color sits at the heart of every painting she creates.

Map studied at Thaivichitsilp Art School and the Poh-Chang Academy of Arts in Bangkok, where she confirmed that art was not just a profession, but a way of life. She later worked as an interior designer for “La Scala,” travelling through Spain, France and Italy. These experiences refined her sense of space, balance and composition, and deepened her commitment to becoming a full-time artist.

Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Map builds her paintings through many layers of paint, texture, light and shadow. She often draws inspiration from nature—mountains, rocks, shells and the sea around Phuket—transforming these elements into powerful abstract forms. Her goal is not simply to create something beautiful, but to create a moment where time seems to stand still and the viewer feels something that is difficult to put into words.

Map’s paintings have found homes with collectors in more than a dozen countries, many acquired through personal recommendation and local exhibitions in Phuket. Though firmly rooted in Thailand, her work carries a universal emotional resonance that speaks to viewers across cultures.
